Benefit Statement - customized to the employer and personalized to each employee showing the value of their total compensation and company-provided benefits; may include current benefit elections and a variety of other information. Typically provided on annual basis.

Total Compensation Statement - newer term for benefit statement that encompasses total compensation. Also referred to as Total Rewards Statement.

Variable Data - refers to information within a document that changes or varies for each person or employee group.

Historical Benefit Statement - indicates the benefit statement has been produced using 12-month historical information regarding compensation and benefits.

Current Benefit Statement - indicates the benefit statement has been produced by taking data from a specific, current date and then annualized.

Fulfillment - the preparation of materials for mailing to an individual's home or work site. May include inserting materials into an envelope or package, affixing a label or including a personalized slip sheet in the package, sealing the envelope, affixing postage and mailing.

Images - refers to photos or graphics to be used in the creative design of materials.

Drafts - during the production benefit communications, two separate PDF (portable document format) drafts of the materials will be provided to the client for edit and review.

Final Proof - incorporates all changes from the draft phase into a final PDF document and provided the client for printing approval.

Separate Versions - when more than one employee group is involved, indicates separate and distinct materials will be created for different employee groups.

Enrollment Communications - general term to describe any type of employee benefit communication during the annual enrollment period.

Annual Enrollment - designated time frame when new benefits and plan changes are communicated to employees; and they can make benefit changes or new elections for the upcoming plan year.

Open Enrollment - specified time period, typically once a year, when employees not covered by the benefit plan may enroll for coverage without answering medical questions.
