Our Clients > Case StudiesLearn how Joshua & Company has helped other companies to effectively communicate employee benefits to their workforce: Research Firm Touts Total Comp To Compete in Tight Market Background: A clinical research firm with multiple locations in the U.S. and Canada was looking for ways to find and retain employees in a very competitive market. Executives determined that to be an employer of choice, they needed to showcase their pay and benefits so employees would understand how much the company spends on their behalf. Logistical challenges included multiple locations, different benefit packages, taxation differences between U.S. and Canadian employees. Joshua & Company Solutions: The client determined that the best way to communicate the total compensation was through personalized statements. Following an extensive internet search, Joshua & Company was selected because of the depth of their experience and quality of product. Because executive-level compensation includes stock options, separate statement formats were developed for executive and non-executive employees. Different benefit offerings and tax implications required separate statements for U.S. and Canadian employees. In all, four different statement formats were designed by the Joshua team. Data collected from the client required particularly detailed scrutiny because of the multiple variations of output. Auditing for accuracy, proofreading of multiple drafts, and test-merging of data files were required to ensure dependable final production. Design elements were developed to highlight the magnitude of the pay and benefits package, and to reflect the company's overall image. After creating special safeguards to ensure complete and accurate delivery, statements were mailed directly to employees' homes. Feedback: From an executive perspective, the statements have been a complete success, exactly conveying the intended message. From an employee standpoint, the surveys included with the statements indicate that the information has been eye-opening. Many employees report that the statements gave them information they never knew before about the value of their benefits. From the Human Resources position, the statement process has worked extremely well. The company did not have the resources to produce statements in-house, and had never experienced working with an outside vendor on such a project. Joshua educated the H.R. staff along the way and helped make the process very easy. As for working with the Joshua team - "They're so easy to work with. I haven't even thought about changing." |
